Why is ordering a 2Gbps plan different?
Most connection boxes support speeds up to 1Gbps. To access 2Gbps Hyperfast speeds, nbn may need to upgrade your connection box. FTTP customers will require an nbn technician visit, while HFC customers will receive a self-install kit with the new connection box.
FTTP (Fibre to the Premises)
Your old nbn connection box can’t support the new 2Gbps speeds. To enjoy the full 2 Gbps experience, get a free upgrade to a new connection box, installed by an nbn technician.
HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial)
Your old nbn connection box can’t support the new 2Gbps speeds. To enjoy the full 2 Gbps experience, get a free upgrade to a new connection box, which comes in a self install kit.
Copper cabling
If your premises is still using the old copper network, you'll need a free fibre upgrade.
Upgrading to 2Gbps made easy
Step 1: Get started on a 500Mbps or 1Gbps temporary plan
If your current nbn connection box supports speeds up to 1Gbps, you can start your upgrade on a temporary 500Mbps or 1Gbps plan. That means you'll enjoy faster speeds with Lightspeed straight away while we prepare your upgrade to Hyperspeed 2Gbps.
Step 2: Delivery of new connection box
You will receive an email and a notification in the Superloop app confirming the delivery of your new connection box and self-setup kit. You can also track the progress of your order through the Superloop app.
Step 3: Enjoy your 2Gbps Hyperspeed plan
Once the installation is complete, your internet service will automatically upgrade to 2Gbps within 4 hours. Then you can start enjoying the fastest speed there is.
What to expect on your invoice
You'll be charged for the 500Mbps or 1Gbps temporary plan price while waiting for your connection box to be upgraded. Once nbn confirms that your upgrade is complete, you’ll automatically switch gears to your 2Gbps plan within 4 hours, and you’ll only be charged for the full 2Gbps plan from the next day. Your invoice will reflect a pro-rata charge, just like any other plan change.
