Global roaming

Heading overseas? All Superloop pre-paid mobile plans have global roaming automatically activated. So, sit back and enjoy your trip.

About global roaming

Here’s a few things to know about our global roaming service. We’ve broken down roaming rates into four zones. You can add your destination country below to find out which zone rates will apply.

Disable roaming

You can disable global roaming via the SuperHub portal and can even choose which parts you want to deactivate; voice calls, SMS/MMS, or data.

Pay as you go (PAYG) roaming

Global roaming on a Superloop PAYG plan requires a positive balance. If your balance is negative, you can still receive SMS, call Superloop, access the website and SuperHub.

Counting data

Global roaming data is counted per Kilobyte downloaded and uploaded.

Things you need to know

Superloop global roaming provides you the flexibility to take your mobile phone when travelling overseas in over 73 countries. You can continue making and receiving calls, access your voicemail and emails, send and receive texts without having to change your mobile number.

Your overseas voice and/or data usage whilst roaming are charged outside of any included value allowance or data pack attached to your plan. All rates listed here are Australian Dollars. Voice and video call rates are shown per minute and charged with an initial increment of 60 seconds and per 30 seconds thereafter.

Charges apply for both sending and receiving a call whilst you are roaming.

Data is charged in 10 Kbyte blocks.

All charges incurred overseas are billed back to your account in Australian dollars. GST does not apply to roaming charges, with the exception of standard and international text rates.

Not all destinations support Australian mobile handsets, therefore you may not be able to make or receive calls in all countries.

Global roaming charges display on your account in real-time and are subject to change without notice, due to fluctuations in international currency rates and changes to charges imposed by overseas networks.

Global Roaming is activated by default for your service. You can manage it by logging into SuperHub.

Superloop Global Roaming allows you to use your mobile whilst you are cruising international waters. All usage when outside port will be charged at Zone 3 Maritime rates. When the ship is approaching port, the onboard ship network may turn off at which point you will lose mobile service. Once you have reached port, your mobile will connect to the local mobile network and the roaming rates for the country you have just arrived will apply.

Global Roaming needs to be activated for voicemail to work whilst overseas. You can retrieve a message whilst overseas by either:

  • calling 321 on your mobile, or

  • sending an SMS with the text ‘A’ to 321, and voicemail will call you back

Standard Global Roaming charges apply for both options above. Using voicemail whilst overseas attracts charges when a message is being left and when you access the voicemail. We suggest limiting your use of voicemail as much as possible whilst roaming.
