In early January 2025, the government announced another $3.8 billion into the NBN, providing full-fibre connections to 620,000 additional homes and businesses.

"The NBN exists because of its national importance," Budde told AAP. "It supports our society, healthcare, education, and communication… it’s critical for the economy.”
